BSAP Assessments Guidelines

A Child-Friendly and Flexible Assessment Environment

The Borderless Education Council (BEC) Student Assessment Program (BSAP) is designed to provide young learners with a supportive, encouraging and developmentally considerate assessment experience.

For Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Kindergarten participants, BEC promotes a flexible approach rather than a rigid examination environment. Children may take bathroom breaks, eat their lunch or fruit, move around the assessment room to avoid prolonged sitting, and return to their designated school room whenever needed, subject to the school’s supervision and safety arrangements.

School coordinators assist students throughout the process, helping them feel comfortable and supported. The time printed on an assessment paper indicates its stated time limit and is not intended to require young children to remain seated continuously without breaks.

BSAP emphasises participation, encouragement and early learning. Children should be treated with patience and understanding, and their well-being should take priority over completing every question within a fixed period.
