Borderless Education Council – International Teachers Assessment Test-BEC ITAT
Empowering Teachers Through BEC Global Assessment & BEC Recognition

What Does BEC ITAT Assess?
BEC ITAT has been designed to progressively move from overall teacher knowledge and professional awareness towards specialised academic knowledge in the subject taught by the teacher.
Levels 1–4: Overall Teacher Knowledge
BEC ITAT Levels 1 to 4 focus primarily on the teacher’s broader professional and educational knowledge.
Depending on the level, assessment areas may include:
- General educational knowledge
- Teaching and learning
- Classroom practices
- Educational awareness
- Teacher professionalism
- Student development
- Assessment and evaluation
- Contemporary educational concepts
- General academic knowledge
These levels provide a foundation for teachers to assess and strengthen their broader professional knowledge.
Levels 5–7: Subject-Specific Academic Knowledge
BEC ITAT Levels 5 to 7 move towards advanced academic knowledge related to the subject taught by the participating teacher.
The assessment focuses more strongly on the teacher’s academic subject expertise and understanding.
This progressive structure allows teachers to move from broader professional knowledge towards deeper subject-specific academic competency.
